APICS Wichita State University Chapter News!

Current APICS Wichita president, Sandy Jessop, met in October 2016 with several of the student chapter members to discuss the benefits of the student chapter and how the students could get involved in the International Conference.

Sandy Jessop meeting with WSU student chapter

The WSU APICS Student Chapter has sponsored, co-sponsored and participated in many events this school year. By being involved with these events, we have had some outstanding membership enrollment. We hope to continue to grow interest in APICS and boost membership by showing its’ many exceptional benefits.

The events solely sponsored by the student chapter include general meetings with guest speakers. General meetings topics have covered educational and resource management material. We have been blessed to have professors, local industry professionals and professional chapter members as guest speakers.

Co-sponsored events have been a very successful way for our members to interface with fellow students, student organizations, professors and industry professionals. We have co-sponsored two events this year with the Institute of Industrial Engineers: Worthington Cylinders Plant Tour and IME Spring 2014 Welcome Back Party.

As an organization we have participated in various university and APICS sponsored events. Our board members conducted a membership campaign by setting up booth at the Fall 2013 Engineering Block Party. The Block Party provided a great opportunity to advertise and communicate the personal benefits each board member has experienced by being an APICS member. Likewise, a few of our board members were able to attend the APICS national conference in the fall. Each of these members were able to not only gain knowledge through the workshops, but also able to network with industry professionals. The networking through the national conference eventually led to a job offer for one of our student chapter member attendees.

Our student chapter looks forward to sponsoring, co-sponsoring and participating in future events that provide opportunities for our members. If you are interested in being involved with our chapter please contact our current WSU Student Chapter President at [email protected] for more information.

March 9, 2015 Update

We have had some interesting meetings with presentations from both professionals and students. Our membership has more than doubled this semester and expect even more growth. Thanks to all for their support of our student activities.
